Keeping Safe Online – Phishing Attacks With A Kiwi Spin

If you have ever visited New Zealand, chances are you may have tried our local “fish ‘n chips” as a quick and easy meal. Whilst Kiwis certainly did not invent this meal, the abundance of incredible kaimoana (local Māori word for seafood) means we have some delicious options when it comes to enjoying battered and deep fried fish.

One of the staples of the New Zealand chippery is the United Fisheries poster hanging on the wall, showing the local fish available in the waters surrounding NZ. I have very clear childhood memories of gazing at this, part mystified, part horrified at some of the more exotic fish in our waters. My main concern was whether I was likely to bump into any of these next time I went for a swim in the sea! Fortunately for me, the closest I ever came to any of these was when they were being served up on my plate on the odd occasion my family had Friday night Fish ‘n Chips!

Last night, a colleague of mine shared a link to a modern twist on the United Fisheries poster, this time a collaborative effort from Security Central NZ and Netsafe. For this 21st Century equivalent, the fishing has been placed with phishing, highlighting the various types of dangers out there on the ‘net that we need to be aware of:
